Curriculum Vitae
Born and raised in the Rhineland, I moved to Münster in Westphalia in 2002 to study business administration. I started studying law there in 2003 and passed my First State Examination in Law at the Hamm Higher Regional Court in 2008.
I then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Commercial Law of the University of Münster and wrote a doctoral thesis on a topic of international commercial law.
I completed my legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne and passed the Second State Examination in Law at the Ministry of Justice of North Rhine-Westphalia in January 2013.
From 2013 to 2015, I worked as a lawyer at Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner in Cologne. I then worked as a lawyer for the international law firm DLA Piper, also in Cologne, from 2016 to 2018 and for the commercial law firm Oppenhoff & Partner from 2018 to 2025. In 2025, I successfully completed the specialist lawyer course in family law, thereby passing the theoretical part of the specialist lawyer examination. In 2026, I founded my own law firm DR. SCHMIDT LEGAL, where I advise exclusively on national and international inheritance and family law.
